Sotheby’s returns to Abu Dhabi - this time online, with a new summer online auction featuring 30 incredible rare pieces.

Running from 24 June to 10 July, Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Edit: Materiality is an online auction featuring just over 30 standout pieces, from high jewellery and rare watches to collector cars, handbags and even a high-performance bike - with the focus on the materials behind the pieces. Carbon fibre shows up in both a Bugatti road bike and a supercar, while gold, platinum and other rare materials run through everything from watches to Hermès hardware.

If jewellery is your thing, the biggest talking point is the five Hemmerle creations heading to auction for the first time. The German jewellery house is known for mixing unconventional materials like copper and bronze with precious stones, giving its pieces a more modern, sculptural feel.

Some of the standout lots include a 19.08-carat Ceylon sapphire ring, a nearly 200-carat Mozambique Paraiba tourmaline, and a 13.34-carat fancy intense yellow diamond ring.

There’s a lot here for serious watch collectors too. The auction features thirteen rare timepieces crafted with materials like titanium, tantalum and platinum, including a Richard Mille RM35-03 Rafael Nadal watch, an F.P. Journe Octa Zodiac, and a Rolex Day-Date with a pink coral dial.

And if you’re more into cars and collectibles, the auction also includes a limited-edition Hermès Midas Sellier Kelly 25, a carbon-fibre Bugatti Factor ONE bike, a 2019 Bugatti Chiron, and a Mercedes-Benz 500 GE 6.0 AMG.

There’s also a scaled-down Ferrari F1 126C4 child’s car going under the hammer without reserve, which might end up being one of the most fun pieces in the entire sale.

It also marks another major step for Sotheby’s in Abu Dhabi  following its rare diamond showcase at Bassam Freiha Art Foundation and the hugely successful Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week last December, which generated more than USD 133 million in sales.

When: Running until 10 July 2026
