Emirati Women’s Day falls on Friday, 28 August, and there are plenty of ways to mark the occasion across Abu Dhabi this weekend.

From a free burger and a special dessert by an award-winning Emirati chef to art workshops, live music and a ladies-only run, here are some of the events worth knowing about.

Get a free burger at The Little Fox

The Little Fox at Al Qana is giving away free burgers to the first 30 Emirati women who visit the food truck from 10am on Friday.

Just make sure you head down early, as the offer is first come, first served.

When: Friday, 28 August, from 10am

Where: The Little Fox, Al Qana

Price: Free burger for the first 30 Emirati women

Try Chef Sahar’s Emirati-inspired dessert at Café Ginori

Award-winning Emirati chef Sahar Parham Al Awadhi has teamed up with Café Ginori at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort for a special culinary collaboration.

Chef Sahar has put an Emirati spin on the classic Italian Torta della Nonna, creating Torta't Mama, flavoured with cardamom, saffron and rose.

Even better, you don't have to squeeze it in on Emirati Women's Day itself. The dessert will be available exclusively at Café Ginori for one month.

When: From 28 August, available for one month

Where: Café Ginori, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort

Bookings: +971 2 498 8443

Get creative at Manarat Al Saadiyat

The Art Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat is putting on a two-day Emirati Women's Day celebration on 28 and 29 August.

There'll be special workshops, artist drop-ins and creative activities for all ages, alongside a special Emirati Women's Day menu.

Where: Art Studio, Manarat Al Saadiyat, Saadiyat Island

Sing along at a ladies-only Tarab night

Grab the girls because Cultural Foundation is hosting a special women-only edition of Riahiyat for Emirati Women's Day.

Led by Tunisian artist Lamia Riahi and featuring The Arab Choir Ladies alongside a live band, the interactive evening will take you through some of the Arab world's best-loved songs. And this isn't really a sit-back-and-watch kind of concert. The audience is encouraged to sing along and become part of the performance.

When: Friday, 28 August, 8pm

Where: Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi

Price: From AED 350

Age: 6+

Spend the weekend at Zayed National Museum

Zayed National Museum is celebrating its first Emirati Women's Day with three days of special programming from 28 to 30 August.

There is plenty going on, including Talli and Khous workshops, date-based cooking sessions with Emirati chef Abeer Allouz, perfume-making and performances by Emirati female musicians. There's also a Women of the Nation tour exploring the stories of women who have helped shape Emirati society.

When: Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August

Where: Zayed National Museum, Saadiyat Cultural District

Lace up for the Ferrari World Ladies Run

The celebrations continue on Sunday with the return of the Ladies Run at Ferrari World Yas Island.

The women-only event takes place entirely indoors, with the air-conditioned course running through Ferrari World, Yas Mall and the Italian Village. Choose between 2.5km, 5km and 10km distances, so you don't need to be a serious runner to join in.

When: Sunday, 30 August; check-in from 6am

Where: Ferrari World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

Price: From AED 85
