Abu Dhabi’s very first luxury eco retreat is now open on Jubail Island. The Eco Retreat, which takes its name from the popular Costa Rican phrase “Pura Vida” – translating from Spanish to “pure life” – is home luxurious and unique accommodations:
Chic Domes
Five spacious and comfortable domes decorated in locally sourced pieces and hand-crafted artwork, feature a king-sized bed, bespoke toiletries, an en-suite bathroom and 5-star amenities for the ultimate glamping experience.
Their minimalist theme and neutral tones, offer scenic views of the mangroves and wilderness, coupled with a colourful cabana so you can grab a secluded spot to relax al fresco in the unspoilt nature of the island.
If you fancy more of an outdoorsy experience, a BBQ kit is available to start a fire pit. The self-grilling experience offers a BBQ kit which includes a selection of meats based on their menu such as burger patties, chicken on skewers, or shrimps, if you choose to stay in the domes. The BBQ kit is for a group of four and needs a minimum spend of AED 325 and also includes chestnuts that can be toasted in the fire pit under the stars.
Native Tents
How do you like the ice of stargazing? Pura is offers rustic accommodation with three tents set up on a tranquil lagoon. The tents feature a full-size bed, along with lazy seating and fire pits perfect to gather around a bonfire. The tents also provide access to luxury guest bathrooms and shower facilities.
There are also plenty of activities available too, from cycling, fat biking, kayaking, yoga, bird watching and even a private beach exclusively available for overnight guests.
The retreat is designed in such a manner to allow guests to pause from hectic life, kick off their shoes and walk around exploring and appreciating the abundant beauty that Jubail Island has to offer.
Stay packages at the Dome currently start from AED 1,700 and stay at tents are set to start from AED 700. Packages vary.
Dining experiences at Pura
The retreat also offers a holistic and high-end dining experience with an extensive wholesome menu which uses local home-grown local produce and skilful cooking techniques so you'll get a hearty feast with well-rounded nutrition in mind.
If you are going to dine at Pura you'll need to spend a minimum of AED 225 per person on weekdays and AED 275 per person on weekends.
They've also got a High Tea option where you can enjoy the sunset views and munch on treats of sandwiches, small bites, and pastries. The afternoon tea is available at the retreat for AED 265 per person with soft beverages and AED 295 per person for alcoholic options.
For the early birds, there's a breakfast menu featuring Freshly Baked Shakshuka; Egg White Avocado Frittata; and other wholesome dishes that are freshly prepared in the kitchen along with refreshing juices, coffees and teas.
Sustainability at Pura
With sustainability at its core, Pura Eco Retreat has taken steps to reduce its carbon footprint by implementing a strictly car-free zone (you'll be transported around the retreat on golf carts), re-using and recycling materials, planting more trees, zero use of motorized activities and applying sustainable practices across the retreat that preserve nature and promote environmental awareness.
They are also attempting to raise awareness about sea pollution, and have installed fishing pods to gather litter thrown in the mangroves water.
