Abu Dhabi is set to welcome some of the UAE’s most talented female jiu-jitsu athletes as the Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup returns this Wednesday, 12 March, at the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy. Over two days, competitors from clubs and academies across the country will hit the mats, battling it out for one of the most coveted titles in the local jiu-jitsu scene.

With categories spanning under-12s to adults, this year’s tournament is bigger than ever, thanks to the introduction of a brand-new under-12 category, a move that reflects the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s push to develop young talent and create future champions.

The event is more than just a competition; it’s a platform for empowerment. According to His Excellency Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the championship plays a crucial role in elevating women’s sports in the UAE. “The Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup is a key championship on our calendar, giving athletes of all ages the chance to develop their skills and compete at the highest level,” he explains.

The UAE has been leading the charge in women’s jiu-jitsu, investing in grassroots development and providing young athletes with the resources they need to thrive. The addition of the under-12 category only reinforces this commitment, ensuring that young girls are given the opportunity to start their journey early and grow within the sport.

Among those gearing up for battle is Hamda Alshkeili, a competitor in the adult category from Baniyas Club. For her, the upcoming tournament is not just about winning—it’s about the challenge, the preparation, and the chance to test herself against some of the best. “Competing in the Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup is a huge honour,” she shares. “Training has been intense over the past few weeks, and I’m ready to give it my all.”

She also credits the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for their continuous support in developing the sport, giving female athletes in the UAE a clear pathway to professional success.

What to Expect Over Two Action-Packed Days

The competition schedule ensures that every match gets the attention it deserves. Wednesday will see the under-12, under-14, and under-16 categories take centre stage, while Thursday will be all about the under-18 and adult fighters going head-to-head.

For fans, it’s a chance to witness first-hand the rising stars of women’s jiu-jitsu in the UAE and to celebrate the strength, skill, and determination that make this sport so thrilling to watch.

So, whether you’re a die-hard jiu-jitsu fan or just looking for an electrifying sporting event to check out this week, the Mother of the Nation Jiu-Jitsu Cup is one not to be missed.
