10th Abu Dhabi Awards celebrates unsung heroes in the capital

If you know someone doing something amazing for Abu Dhabi, they might be able to receive the praise they finally deserve.

The Abu Dhabi Awards is a Government initiative that honors unsung heroes who have selflessly dedicated their time to helping others and positively impacted the Abu Dhabi community, has announced that nominations are now open for its 10th edition. 

Known as the emirate’s highest civilian honor, the Abu Dhabi Awards can be awarded to anyone regardless of their age, gender, nationality or place of residency. The single and only criteria that nominees must fulfill is to have made a positive contribution towards the emirate and community of Abu Dhabi.

The nomination period will take place from 27 May 2019 until 31 December 2019.

This year’s Awards campaign seeks to activate 'goodness' across the emirate, promoting the power of good deeds to create a ripple effect and inspiring others within the community to pay it forward through their own acts of kindness.

In line with the pay it forward ethos, this year’s Awards are set to host a series of community events and initiatives, ranging from community development, social responsibility and environmental awareness.

If you are looking to nominate someone, this year’s nominations have been made easier than ever. Simply visit the Abu Dhabi Awards website, where you can submit your nomination virtually at any time.

Since its inception, the Abu Dhabi Awards have recognized 80 unsung heroes, from 16 different nationalities, who have made a positive impact on society in the emirate. To date, the Awards have garnered over a quarter of a million nominations, representing 135 nationalities. Previous Award recipients have made valuable contributions towards the community, spanning a myriad of fields including medical research, lifetime achievements, overseas humanitarian relief as well as the preservation of the UAE and Abu Dhabi’s heritage. 

The awards will take place in early 2020, with nominations closing at the end of 2019, so you still have around 7 months to get your nominations in!
