Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to host F1 Sprint in 2027

More F1 action is coming to Yas Marina Circuit, with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix hosting an F1 Sprint for the first time in 2027.
The 2027 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend takes place from 9 - 12 December, with the 100km Sprint joining the line-up on Saturday. It lasts around 30 minutes, there are no mandatory pit stops, and the winner gets eight championship points.
The usual weekend schedule will also look a little different. Sprint qualifying will take place on Friday instead of FP2, while the Sprint replaces FP3 on Saturday. Then, it’s qualifying for the main Grand Prix later that day, before the season-ending race on Sunday.
If you’re at Yas Marina for the full weekend, there’ll be plenty happening on track from Friday onwards. The Sprint is a shorter, flat-out race with more points up for grabs, and in 2027, it will feature at 10 circuits on the F1 calendar.
