The world-famous Andrew Lloyd Webber musical will take over Etihad Arena for its Abu Dhabi debut

Abu Dhabi is set to welcome one of the most iconic musicals of all time. CATS will make its Abu Dhabi debut at Etihad Arena, Yas Island, running from 14 to 24 May 2026, bringing its legendary music, choreography and theatrical spectacle to the capital.

First premiered in London in 1981, CATS has become one of the most successful stage productions in history, captivating audiences across generations and continents.

Composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, CATS features a score that has become part of musical theatre history, including the timeless anthem “Memory.” Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the show blends storytelling, dance and character-driven performances in a way few productions ever have.

Audiences can expect a visually striking experience, with an oversized set, imaginative costumes and choreography that brings the world of the Jellicle Cats vividly to life.

Since its debut, CATS has been performed in more than 30 countries, translated into 15 languages, and seen by over 73 million people worldwide. The original creative team includes Trevor Nunn (Director), Gillian Lynne (Choreographer), and John Napier (Designer), whose work helped define the musical’s instantly recognisable style.
