The capital is home to luxury hotels, world-class attractions and some seriously lavish experiences. But it's also packed with places you can visit without spending a dirham.

Whether you're looking for a weekend stroll, somewhere to take visiting friends, a family day out or just want to explore more of the city, these spots prove that some of Abu Dhabi's best experiences are completely free.

Here's where to start:

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

One of the world's most iconic landmarks, the Grand Mosque is free to visit and offers complimentary cultural tours throughout the day. Wander through the marble courtyards, admire the world's largest hand-knotted carpet and visit at sunset for one of Abu Dhabi's most spectacular views.

Masdar City

Take a stroll through one of the world's most sustainable urban developments. Explore the futuristic architecture, shaded walkways, public art and cafés while learning how Abu Dhabi is shaping the cities of tomorrow.

The Corniche

Whether you're walking, cycling, jogging or simply watching the sunset, the Corniche is one of the city's best free days out. Stretching for around 8km, it's also home to parks, play areas and incredible skyline views. Part of the Corniche Beach is also free to sunbathe on.

Al Wathba Wetland Reserve

One of Abu Dhabi's hidden natural gems, the reserve is home to thousands of flamingos during the cooler months, along with over 250 species of birds. Wander the boardwalks and enjoy a completely different side of the emirate.

Al Jahili Fort

Located in Al Ain, this beautifully restored fort offers a glimpse into the UAE's history. Wander through the historic courtyard, explore the surrounding gardens and discover exhibitions celebrating the country's heritage.
