The first phase of Etihad Rail passenger services in 2026, has been unveiled with 7 new passenger stations and more details of a major step in transforming how people move across the country.
The new passenger rail system will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE, creating the nation’s first fully integrated national passenger railway network. Designed to serve citizens, residents and visitors, the project aims to offer a safe, reliable and congestion-free way to travel between Emirates.
Stations across the network will open in phases throughout 2026. Locations confirmed include Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah, alongside Al Sila’, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezaira’a, Al Faya and Al Dhaid.
The network builds on Etihad Rail’s existing freight operations, which have been running successfully since 2023, and marks a significant expansion into passenger mobility.

What can you expect on the trains?
Etihad Rail is promising a modern, comfortable onboard experience, with:
Ergonomic seating and contemporary interiors
Full Wi-Fi coverage
Individual power outlets at every seat
Reliable, regular timetables
Each train can carry up to 400 passengers, offering a smooth alternative to long road journeys and busy highways.
Here's how you can connect across the Emirates:
In its first phase, the network will link carefully selected locations such as Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah, and Al Hilal area in Fujairah. Stations will also connect with other transport modes, making end-to-end journeys simpler and more efficient.

Beyond easing travel, the passenger rail network is expected to:
Boost domestic tourism
Reduce emissions
Strengthen economic and social links between Emirates
Improve overall quality of life
With over 24.5 million working hours and more than 7,000 specialists involved in its development, the project represents one of the UAE’s most ambitious transport initiatives to date.

Passenger services are scheduled to officially begin in 2026, setting the stage for a new era of rail travel across the country.
