Kings of Leon

If you’re heading to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this December, Thursday night now has another big name on the bill. Kings of Leon will join Lewis Capaldi for the opening night of the After-Race Concerts on 3 December.

The rock band will take to the stage at Etihad Live on Yas Island, with songs from across its 10-album catalogue. If you know Kings of Leon from hits such as Sex on Fire and Use Somebody, you’ll have a couple of familiar tracks to look forward to.

Since their debut in 2003, the band has won four GRAMMY Awards and two BRIT Awards, sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, and headlined major festivals including Glastonbury and Coachella. Their tenth studio album, O My Beloved, is scheduled for release on 6 November, ahead of their Abu Dhabi performance.

Thursday’s line-up opens a packed few days of concerts at the Grand Prix. Alex Warren and Jennifer Lopez are scheduled for Friday, 4 December, followed by Imagine Dragons on Saturday, 5 December. The final night on Sunday, 6 December, brings The Chainsmokers and The Script to the stage.

There’s more on the music calendar beyond the after-race shows. Andrea Bocelli will perform at the first Yasalam Classics concert on Wednesday, 2 December, while Anyma presents ÆDEN at the official after-party on Friday. DJs Black Coffee, CamelPhat and Shimza will also play at 16/360 across three days.

Kings of Leon replace Zara Larsson, who was originally announced for Thursday’s After-Race Concerts.
