Abu Dhabi Sports Championship

The 2024/25 Abu Dhabi Sports Championship for Schools & Universities is set to wrap up in a thrilling finale on Saturday, 10 May, at ADNEC Marina Hall. After a record-breaking 33,000 students participated across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, the championship’s culmination promises an exciting day of high-level competition in six sports disciplines: Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Futsal, Archery, Fencing, and Laser Shooting.

Open to families, educators, sports fans, and the broader community, the event will feature a vibrant celebration that includes an athlete parade, a special awards ceremony, and an array of engaging activities for all ages. Expect interactive zones, tech-powered challenges, live performances, and a fan zone buzzing with food, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.

The Championship, hosted by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and the Ministry of Education (MoE), saw the 2024/25 season expand to 18 sports disciplines. This expansion highlights ADEK’s ongoing commitment to promoting student well-being, leadership, and personal growth through physical activity. With 12 disciplines already concluded, the remaining six finals will be held during the weekend finale.

In addition to the competition, the Championship offers a pathway to further development for student-athletes. Top performers will have opportunities to be scouted by local and international experts, potentially gaining access to competitive sports and scholarship opportunities. Elite athletes will also be selected for All-Star teams representing the UAE in national and international competitions in football, basketball, table tennis, and badminton.

Aligned with ADEK’s broader vision for student engagement, the Championship supports the Physical Education and School Sports Policy, which seeks to foster a culture of well-being and physical activity in schools. Through a comprehensive PE curriculum and active parent engagement, the policy empowers students to stay active, participate in community competitions, and benefit from expert guidance, preparing them for success both on and off the field.
