The UAE’s biggest jiu-jitsu event is back - and it’s set to be bigger than ever.

Registration is now open for the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship (ADWPJJC), taking place this November at Mubadala Arena in the capital.

The annual championship is one of the most prestigious events on the international jiu-jitsu calendar, drawing thousands of elite male and female athletes from across the globe – and this year is expected to break records, with more than 10,000 competitors anticipated.

Organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the event showcases Abu Dhabi’s continued rise as a global hub for combat sports. Speaking on the announcement, His Excellency Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said:“We anticipate that this edition will draw over 10,000 athletes from around the world, a record figure that is indicative of the championship’s international prominence and leadership.”

What to Expect

The action will unfold in phases across several categories:

  • Abu Dhabi World Amateurs – featuring white and blue belt athletes

  • Para-Jiu-Jitsu Tournaments – open to all belt divisions

  • Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival – exclusively for kids and juniors (white belts only)

  • Abu Dhabi World Youth Championship – for competitors with grey, yellow, orange, green, blue, and purple belts
