Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, was present at the big reveal of the Disney Theme Park Resort project, announced as part of a new partnership between The Walt Disney Company and Miral.

The new park will take pride of place on the Yas Island waterfront, joining the likes of Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World in what’s already one of the world’s top entertainment hubs. Once complete, it will become Disney’s seventh global theme park resort, joining the legendary parks in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Speaking at the announcement, His Highness underlined the huge significance of the project - not only as a landmark moment for Abu Dhabi but as a major step in boosting the UAE’s global tourism standing. He noted that the creative and cultural industries are a vital part of the country’s economic diversification plans, helping drive growth and innovation across the board.

Also in attendance were Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi; Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; and Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, Group CEO of Miral.

Miral, which is behind some of the capital’s best-loved attractions, will fully develop and build the new resort, while Disney will take the creative reins, overseeing attraction development, design, and operational standards to ensure that signature Disney magic.

Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said: “Abu Dhabi is a perfect home for this new park. It’s a global crossroads that embraces culture and forward-thinking - ideal for bringing Disney stories and experiences to a whole new audience.”

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, added: “We’re designing something truly groundbreaking here, with innovative technology, bold architecture, and a modern castle like no other in the world.”

With a vision to create magical moments and lifelong memories, the Disney Theme Park Resort on Yas Island is set to redefine family entertainment in the region - and we can’t wait to see Disneyland Abu Dhabi come to life.
