Every year on April 30, International Jazz Day is celebrated worldwide, and in 2025, Abu Dhabi will serve as the Global Host. This special day honours jazz for its ability to unite people, promote dialogue, freedom of expression, and respect for human rights and diversity.

In Abu Dhabi, the 2025 celebrations will introduce global audiences to 'Arabic Jazz' through classical instruments like the Oud, Qanoon, and Ney. This fusion will highlight the interplay between local musical traditions and jazz, showcasing a rich history of cultural exchange.

HE Mohamed Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the city’s commitment to cultural diversity and artistic excellence. He noted that as a UNESCO Creative City of Music, Abu Dhabi has long been a beacon of musical innovation, blending traditional Arabian melodies with global genres.

On April 30, alongside a grand concert, Abu Dhabi will emphasise musical education. Local schools will participate in educational programs, while higher-education institutions like Berklee Abu Dhabi and New York University Abu Dhabi will offer workshops and masterclasses. Young musicians will be encouraged to cultivate their interest in music and pursue careers in jazz.

Established by UNESCO in 2011 and recognised by the United Nations General Assembly, International Jazz Day brings together countries and communities worldwide. It has reached over 2 billion people through education programs, performances, community outreach, and online platforms. The Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz leads the organisation of this global event.
