The capital is busy with a whole new mix of updates this week. From limited-edition museum stamp collections and on-demand courier apps to blind-date book pop-ups, major upcoming performing arts stages, and live football action, here’s our quick roundup of the latest news and things to do in Abu Dhabi.

Zayed National Museum x Emirates Post limited-edition stamps

If history interests you or you happen to be a philatelist - you might want to check out Zayed National Museum’s latest collaboration with Emirates Post for a special release of a collection of commemorative stamps. There are only 5,000 sheets being printed, with each sheet holding five distinct designs featuring historical artefacts and archives from the museum's collection.

The lineup features a historic photograph of our late founding father His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan captured by French photographer Jack Burlot, as well as a khanjar (the traditional dagger) symbolising Emirati identity and heritage. You will also find a cup decorated with falaj illustrations from Al Ain, a tabla (pendant) from the 1930s, also a ceramic incense burner from the Bidaa Bint Saud archaeological site.

Abu Dhabi’s newest on-demand courier app: Go Fetch It

A new on-demand personal courier service called Go Fetch It has officially launched in the capital to handle your personal logistics. It might save you from battling city traffic or hunting for parking spots just to run a quick errand.

You can just book a courier to securely pick up and drop off everyday essentials. To give you an idea of what they can do, they’ve previously handled things like a single house key left behind at the office and original copies of important documents to a Tupperware container of home cooking or a phone charger when your battery hits 6%.

Meet Saadiyat Island’s newest cultural addition: Dar Al Funoon

If you haven’t already heard about the latest cultural update in the capital - allow us to introduce Dar Al Funoon. This massive new performing arts venue is getting a permanent home on Saadiyat Island in 2030, and it’s a big one.

Designed by the late Frank Gehry, the architect behind the upcoming Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, the building features a unique sculptural exterior inspired by flowing fabric. It will host everything from opera and ballet to international productions and jazz nights across a 2,000-seat performance hall, a 3,500-seat open-air amphitheatre, a studio theatre, and a dedicated jazz club.

Check out the capital’s ongoing FIFA fanzones and food drops

If you’re still keeping up with all the match action, the football spirit is very much alive across the city. Some of Abu Dhabi’s best activations and pop-ups are running all the way through to 19 July.

Over at Reem Mall, you can take on a six-station football circuit, test your skills, and join mini-tournaments If all that tackling has you hungry, you can head over to Khalifa City and grab BonBird’s limited-edition BonTaco Box - featuring fried chicken tenders loaded into fresh flour tortillas with melted cheese for AED 39.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi set to open its doors by the end of this year

The wait for one of Saadiyat Island’s most anticipated cultural additions is almost over. The project director for Guggenheim Abu Dhabi recently confirmed that Frank Gehry’s architectural masterpiece is on track to open its doors by the end of 2026.

You'll explore the massive space through shared themes and ideas rather than a strict historical timeline, letting the artwork guide you naturally through Frank Gehry’s unique, curved architecture. The building features industrial-scale galleries, a 350-seat theatre, and 11 iconic blue glass cones designed to naturally cool the outdoor courtyards.

Stay tuned with us for more updates as they drop.
